Growing up with missionary parents in impoverished countries instilled in me a deep commitment to humanitarian work. This upbringing fostered a passion for aiding the less fortunate, a flame that continued to burn even after my parents retired. My husband, sharing a similar background with missionary parents, and I found common ground in our shared dedication to continuing the mission work. As a united force, we embarked on our journey as a young couple, establishing our own humanitarian initiatives in the Philippines back in 2001.
Despite facing challenges and expanding our family, we tirelessly worked to lay the foundation for impactful projects. One particular endeavor close to my heart involved addressing the needs of young abused girls and struggling mothers at a local shelter. Over the span of 15 years, I dedicated myself to creating and conducting seminars on motherhood, baby care, and women’s empowerment. Fundraising efforts were also initiated to provide essential support, including food, clothing, and baby items for both the mothers and the shelter.
The satisfaction derived from witnessing the positive transformation of these mothers, babies, and children fueled my commitment. Some of these individuals went on to lead fulfilling lives, attaining success and empowerment after leaving the shelter. Our overarching mission extended beyond addressing immediate physical needs to encompass emotional well-being.
Our commitment to humanitarian work is a family affair, involving our children in various activities. During the extended festive season of Christmas in the Philippines, our large family created a Christmas caroling and dance group. Our children’s dance group became an integral part of our Christmas humanitarian work, participating in mission events, fundraisers, parties, and performances. This outreach not only brought joy to many but also provided socialization and fun outings for my homeschooled children.
Even after 22 years, our dedication remains steadfast. Our family actively organizes and leads all mission projects, handling everything from conception to implementation, and we independently conduct our fundraising efforts
Even after 22 years, our dedication remains steadfast. Our family actively organizes and leads all mission projects, handling everything from conception to implementation, and we independently conduct our fundraising efforts. The enduring impact of our work is evident in the well-established humanitarian initiatives that persist in the Philippines today. Looking back, our journey has been one of profound fulfillment, showcasing the transformative power of sustained and dedicated humanitarian efforts.
